2008 World According to P, C & C (VI): Let The Right One In - Movie with Gessle song wins top award at New York film festival

Swedish Director Tomas Alfredson receives a cash prize of $25,000 and extra marketing power for his coming-of-age film "Let the Right One In" by winning the Founder's Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival that concluded in New York City today.

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (2008)
Låt den rätte komma in
  • Director: Tomas Alfredson.
Producers: Carl Molinder, John Nordling, Lena Rehnberg.
    Screenplay: John Ajvide Lindqvist.
Starring: Kåre Hedebrant, Lina Leandersson, Per Ragnar, Henrik Dahl, Mikael Rahm.
  • EFTI / Sandrew Metronome, 2008
Winner of the Nordic Film Award and the Kodak Nordic Vision Award
at the Göteborg Film Festival, 2008.

The film, which features a song recorded by Per Gessle, will not be released in Sweden until October 2008. During a question-and-answer session, The Daily Roxette asked Alfredson about the Gessle song "Kvar i min bil," which – as Per had told before – is given a prominent place in the film. In one scene, the lead actor is shown putting the the 45rpm single on a record player so as to listen to it. The director explained that the male half of that group (Per) had had a popular group (Gyllene Tider) back in the '80s, the time period in which this movie is set. Looking for a song that fit that era, but not wanting to use an instantly recognizable song, he asked Per (who he said he was an acquaintance of), if he could write a new song in the same style as those earlier GT hits.

Novelist John Ajvide Lindquist adapted his best-seller for the screen to tell the beautifully touching tale of the first romance of 12-year-old Oskar and the girl next door, Eli (who also happens to be a vampire). The Tribeca jury commented that the film was exceptional "for its mesmerizing exploration of loneliness and alienation through a masterful reexamination of the vampire myth." The film already has North American distribution in place and Variety also writes that a US version is in the works.

Well, currently I'm very pleased to be involved in Tomas Alfredson's movie 'Låt den rätte komma in.' It's a brilliant flick and will kick ass everywhere.

HJ's 2007 Fall (VII): Meadow, a chillout tale

Meadow is one of the songs from Dynamo, the first album by Helena Josefsson. Jeffero has included it in his bootleg compilation. Meadow is one of the favourite songs of Helena. Helena said some time ago that Twin Peaks is one of her musical influences. Read Helena's lyrics.

Not far from home, there´s a forsaken meadow behind a hamburger bar, not far from the city glow. An oasis of flowers left to grow. There one can see ox-eye daisies, blackberries. If you keep your eye low to the grass, the town won´t show but the drive-thru sign shines like a fake rainbow. If I´m not at home when you´re knocking on my door, find my meadow. Find my meadow and that´s where you´ll find me. Find my meadow and you will understand me.

If you go there you become a millionaire in the currency of flowers so fair. And the homeless and the hounds can heirs. When dusk sets in the red majestic cat king is crying for love. Can you hear his rut singing? A shrill voice calls until morning. If I´m not at home when you´re calling on my phone, find my meadow. Find my meadow and that´s where you´ll find me. Find my meadow and you will understand me.

I am Jeffero, from Hungary. I have a music net-label named Slidin'tune Music Networks (S.M.N.) which includes a one-member group created by me when I started to remixing, mixing music. The Chillout Zone Massive now has more than 40 mix and compilation albums.

In the 90's my tracker music group was named "T.N.C. Label Inc". My favourite musicians are Future Sound Of London, Delerium, Chicane, Jan Johnston, Moby, William Orbit, Salt Tank, Oliver Shanti and Lush.

Johanna Molander (a.k.a. gessloholic), from Borgholm, was there. And this is her story (and her photos):

The 17th november I and my friend (Billys friend too) Erik went to Copenhagen ... We had some problems to find the place, well we did find the place but not the place at the place (confusing). Then we met helena and she told us where to go. Then we waited some hours. While we were waiting Helena came and talked to us and gave us the record and free drinks in the bar. I don't even drink alcohol. As usually, there were about ten persons there to watch Helena. They started to play about 21:30. She sung "Ghosts", "By your side", "The moon is a grain of sand", "Where does the unused love go", "Never never", "Into the woods", "Waterlily love", "Sleepyhead", "Meadow" and "The pirate king". It was so good, "The pirate king" was really cool live. It would have been worth to go to Copenhagen only to hear that song. Helena thought they made the best version of "The pirate king" ever :) After the show, Helena spoke to us, we discussed Pers voice. Then we went to the hotel and slept. I think I smiled the whole night.

I was thinking about changing the black colour in Le Journal des Mouches, but then I read a mail about Blackle, the black version of Google. So we will keep this page.

HJ's spreading summer light (VIII): Malmöfestivalen

Helena Josefsson has played in Malmö festivalen. Some fans were there. Sandra, from Kristianstad, SE wrote: "After Tingsek's concert, I went to Helena Josefsson's one. She had really a fantastic radiation and a great voice. No other artist at Malmöfestivalen was as good as Tingsek or Josefsson."

Ann de Vos (a.k.a. spyboo), from Kapellen, Belgium, said: "Hej Helena. I just got home from my lovely vacation in Sweden, where the intention was to go look Per (about 6 times), but ended up looking more at you than Per. So just wanted to say, thanks for the great concerts (also thank Per) and your really great album, it's sort of my summer revelation. Good luck!". Carolina Josefsson, from Malmö, SE added: "Idag sjunger Helena, min syster , på Malmöfestivalen =) såklart ska familj och vänner dit och lyssna på henne!".

2007.08.17 Helena at Malmöfestivalen - Postis-Poesi 2

During the Malmöfestivalen, Helena Josefsson read some poems by South-Swedish new authors. All the poems were taken from Postis-Poesi, an anthology published by Sydsvenskan.

2007.08.17 Helena at Malmöfestivalen - Postis-Poesi 1

During the tour with Gessle we have moved to Malmö, it feels good to be closer to the sea and a lot more concerts to go too! I am charging myself for Friday, the show at Malmöfestivalen which will be with the full band. And then we go to Berlin to play, and I think it will be wonderful!

See you on Friday!

I am still trying to melt the concert last friday, I have never experienced something like that before!
The audience was incredible and helped us be better than ever before! What happens now, is we go to Berlin in September to represent Sweden at the Pop Komm festival, and my booker Johan at Blixten & Co tries to book 5-8 gigs around Sweden for this autumn!
And we will keep working towards releasing the album abroad, so far nothing has happened!

It seems Helena Josefsson's fans have been supporting her this summer while she tries to relax from time to time with friends and family.

I have added forums in other languages to the Helena Josefsson's Official Forum. You can also discuss in Swedish, German, Spanish and French now. I thought it was the right time to add it, because we are getting more members now. And more members means also more international. I hope you like it and use also the new forums. Thank you to the users for the idea! That´s why we have the Feedback section.

Dany Etchart is a Brazilian fan that has been in Sweden this summer. Her videos are marvelous.

By the way, Helena Josefsson's Unofficial Fanclub has got new moderators like "Papillon". We hope the forum could be more active now. Furthermore, both the Official Forum and the Unofficial Fanclub's members have chosen their favourite songs from Dynamo.

We have started the HJ Official Forum with a poll about fans' favourite song of Helena Josefsson's Dynamo album. Isn´t it sometimes hard to pick only one song? Hard to decide! Where does the unused love go? is the final winner.

1. Where does the unused love go? - 30 %

The second single. A happy love song! It makes you feel very good!

I'm a girl who is 16 years old. I live in a small little place in Småland, Sweden. I'm a big fan of Per Gessle and it was in that way I discovered Helena Josefsson. I knew who she was because I had heard her on his albums, and one evening when I had nothing to do I visited www.sandymouche.com and listened to some songs. I thought they were great and bought their albums. And well... then Helena released her soloalbum and I loved that to. I've never met Helena in person or seen her live (only four times this summer together with Per), but I hope I will have the oppurtunity to do that soon. I love Helena and think she is fantastic. I love how she goes her own way and just being herself. That is admirable. She always seems so sweet and happy and that makes me happy too.

INTERVIEW WITH HELENA JOSEFSSON
ROCKSELLOUT

Perhaps there’s something in the water, I don’t know, but Sweden has been generating a wave of great artists in all sorts of genres these past years, such as The Knife, Marit Bergman and Peter Bjorn & John. The latest rising star from the north is Helena Josefsson, who’s debut album “Dynamo” recently hit the stores. Taking the liberty to describe her music myself, I would ask you to imagine Kate Bush, Björk and perhaps Regina Spektor collaborating together. Just check out the video below for Helena’s first single, “By Your Side” and you’ll see what I mean. First though, take a moment to read some of this former chewing gum junkie's own words:

If you were making a mix for our readers, what would be the first three songs you'd select?
A mix from my own music would be: Meadow and Sleepyhead from "Dynamo" and Spiderweb Suit from Sandy Mouche´s latest album :o)

And if it was other music, I could choose:
True Colors with Cyndi Lauper
Hello Earth with Kate Bush
Samson with Regina Spektor

Name any musical influence(s)?
I have a lot of different influences even though I´ve understood it can be hard to hear them in the music! The Cure (fell in love with Robert Smith when I was a kid and I saw him in the "Close to me" video!) Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Marie Fredriksson, Monica Zetterlund, Björk, Kate Bush, Cranberries, Michael Jackson (fell in love with him too!), Mary J Blige, Otis Redding, Terence Trent D´arby, Nick Drake, Prince. The soundtracks of Astrid Lindgrens stories, and Peter and The Wolf by Prokofjev mean a great deal to me!

What new music are you currently listening to?
I like Joanna Newsom, Jay Jay Johanson, Regina Spektor, Laleh. Prince´s and Kate Bush´s latest albums are fantastic!!

Name a band (current or defunct) that would be your dream act to open for on a major tour?
I think that my music could match Coldplay or U2 tours, I like to make long mantras at the end of my songs live, and that way of forcing the athmosphere is in their music too!

Who, if anyone, would you like to collaborate with?
I would like to produce an album with Prince. I would like to bring my band and Christoffer Lunquist, producer of Dynamo. I believe it could be a fantastic match! I love the way Prince uses clustres in the vocals and I think his pop-songs (not the funky ones) have something in them that I am trying to do too!

Tell us something about you that we can't find on Google.
I love dancing: flamenco is my latest discovery, but I love the aggression in hip-hop dancing, too!

And one more thing!

When I was around 6 years old I adored chewing gum so much I would scratch off the ones on the ground:o) You know the white things one the asphalt that have been stepped on. And then I would chew them. And I asked my best friend My if I could take hers when she didn´t want it anymore :o)

“"Sandy Mouche ..."and poems for the unborn" was released in Belgium!”

Hi... i am Marc Xavier LeBlanc... aka Bones... I'm a radio show host and DJ from Canada and i'm a big fan of Helena Josefsson and Sandy Mouche.

I am the host of (((la photo sonore))) radio show, that is every thursday nights from 7 to 9pm (Atlantic Standard time) - CKUM Radio J 93.5fm - and available online

The first day of February I played 28 songs. Number 21 was "Une histoire"(JC Remix), by Sandy Mouche.
Marc Xavier Leblanc, DJ Bones

Per Blomgren (Sandy Mouche's drummer) has been working in a new project in his home Tirup and Malmö. The new band is called "If I say yes" and has released three free songs in Myspace

Vocals and guitar: Erik Alexandersson
Bass: Jonas
Drums: Per Blomgren

Erik has worked with Martin Alfredsson in the band Sons of Brother Justin. Erik and Jonas also have recorded other songs under the name Alla kungens män

15 Dec 2006

Helena Josefsson, backing singer at Malmö's studios (VIII): Fredo - Remack

Fredo is the solo project by Mitsunori Matsuno from Tokyo. He's the resident DJ and the organizer of one of the highly popular party in Tokyo "Freaky!" at Shinjuku Oto. His first full length album, Smack which was produced by Tatsuki Hasimoto (Strauss) was out in June 2005. This album features Bastian (Dutch track maker/producer) and Helena Josefsson (Swedish singer from Sandy Mouche). Helena sings in the song Teenage Monster.

Now he releases a remix album, Remack, with eight track. The Teenage Monster remix is made by his friend Yoshitaka Morino (Handsomeboy Technique), from Kyoto. You can listen to a snippet here.

Panora, in Malmö, is one of the few places in all Sweden where you can listen to this song. Sometimes Panora becomes oo-e j-club for Japanese parties with DJs Iensu, MyMelody and Neo-Toyota. "DJ Neo-Toyota blood type A" played Teenage Monster last 18 March at Panora. By the way, Handsomeboy Technique and Halfby were also at KB club in Malmö on 22 March 2006. Is there a Japanese music fever in Malmö?

(France 2006 · 11 · 02 )

“"Sandy Mouche ..."and poems for the unborn" was released in France by Martingale.”

The reactions of the listeners have been really good. For example, read the words by Claudia Warzebock - (aka Lili im Licht), from Lyon,FR: "Hallo The Sandy's! I really felt in Love with your song Papillon. First time I saw the clip it was at M6Music from France at 4 o clock in the morning. We hope that Ur music find a great success here in France!". Nicomüc, from Paris, FR says: "Salut les Sandy Mouche! I heard from you a few weeks ago on French tv. They showed a short bit of the Papillon video. I think that song is brilliant and the album is very good too. We will play some of your songs on the French Rock'one Webradio and talk about the album. I really hope you it will be a success in France!"

November 8th it will be release in Switzerland! All the Swiss fans can buy the record at www.cede.ch

Hi... i am Marc Xavier LeBlanc... aka Bones... I'm a radio show host and DJ from Canada and i'm a big fan of Helena and Sandy Mouche.

On 4th November 2006 there was a "Nudie Cafe Party" at Cafe Pause in Tokyo (2-14-12-1F Minami-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo). Contributors were Hideki Kaji, Embee, Hird, Hej Musik, and Marc Xavier LeBlanc (Bones), and all music was 100% Swedish.

Jean Snow, a Tokyo-based writer, is the gallery manager of Cafe Pause (access), and produces events and parties there as well. The cafe is also home to the PauseTalk series of monthly talk events, aiming to create a forum where Tokyo-based creatives can get together and discuss their own projects, as well as cultural currents of the city. The cafe has its own site, and its own blog as well (in Japanese).

I didn't actually dj at the event in Tokyo ... but i did make 5 mixes for the event and they ended up using 3 of the 5 mixes during the exhibit and which played during the entire exhibit. 1 of the mixes had a track
(The moon is a grain of sand) by Helena Josefsson from the forthcoming album and i also put a Sandy Mouche song (Une histoire) on one of the other mixes that wasn't used.

I've been a fan of Sandy Mouche for quite a few years (from 2003 almost) and also did a little interview with them on the www.itsatrap.com website which talks about scandinavian music in general. Here is the link to the "20 questions I had with Sandy Mouche" back in 2004. I hope you enjoy.
