P, C & C are shopping with mother (II): Kung av sand - En liten samling 1983-2007

Today Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet has a special treat for their buyers - If you have bought Aftonbladet between Thursday and Sunday you can buy a specially made CD by Per Gessle for 79 SEK (€9). The CD, named "Kung av sand - En liten samling 1983-2007", has been compiled by Per himself and is available in 110,000 copies for only four days and only if you buy Aftonbladet.

Besides a few new live tracks, taken from the "Mazarin" live DVD there is a new demo on the album. "Ingen kan som du" demo from May 28 2003. This is not to be mistaken for the demo from the album "Demos."

The album only includes three songs from Per Gessle Solo - pre-Roxette times (1982-1986), with Marie Fredriksson as backing vocals :
  • 5. Tända en sticka till (From "Per Gessle", 1983)
  • 9. Segla på ett moln (From "Demos", 1982-1986)
  • 10. Blå december (From "Scener", 1984)
There are also three songs from Mazarin Live Tour 2003 previously recorded by Gyllene Tider. These songs were played live by Per Gessle's Mazarinerna band (Clarence Öfwerman, Chris Lundquist, Helena Josefsson, Jens Jansson, Anders Herrlin and Jonas Isacsson):
  • 1. Kung av sand (Live from the "Mazarin" DVD)
  • 6. Flickan i en Cole Porter-sång (Live from the "Mazarin" DVD)
  • 8. Småstad (Live from the "Mazarin" DVD)
Two songs were demos recorded by Per Gessle during Mazarin project:
  • 3. Inte tillsammans, inte isär (demo 28 juni 2003)
  • 7. Ingen kan som du (demo 28 maj 2003) [new track]
Finally there are two songs outtaken from the last Per Gessle's solo albums with SOAP band:
  • 2. På promenad genom stan (From "Mazarin", with Marie Fredriksson)
  • 4. Hon vill sväva över ängarna (From "En händig E.P.")
We can also consider this album a small compilation by "Per Gessle's solo band:" seven songs (of ten) were recorded by Gessle's solo band. By the way, Christoffer Lundquist remembered "En Händig Man" Tour and how he felt being hated by some fans of Roxette.

2007.09 Lotta Wenglén - In the core

Christoffer Lundquist has recorded, mixed and produced the new album of the singer from Malmö Lotta Wenglén, "In the core", that will be released on September 10th, 2007. Lotta (born 1971) played in the bands "Ba-Ba-Loo" (1995-1998) and "Bobby Ray" (1999-2000). Then she released three solo albums: "Golden Green" (Dundret Studio, 2000; Adrian Recordings, 2001), "Paintbrush" (Min Studio, Malmö, 2002; Margit Music, 2002) and "Ask Harry" (Hököpinge Kyrkby, 2003-2004; Margit Music, 2005). Lotta moved into Malmoe in 2005 and wrote new songs. She had no plan of making them into an album. Instead she recorded songs and released them the next day on myspace. When she found out that she had been granted financial support from Statens Kulturråd to produce an album, she decided to record her songs at AGM Studios with Christoffer Lundquist. Lottas soloband contains great musicians such as Måns Wieslander on guitar, Magnus Sveningsson (Righteous Boy, The Cardigans) on bass and Carolina Carlbom on drums.

I hadn't read Roxette related websites until I stumbled upon one site, I think it was "The Daily Roxette" during the "En Händig Man"-tour. And I found out that there are a lot of people who think I'm the worst thing that happened to Per Gessle ever! They really think I suck BIG TIME! And I also understood that a lot of people think Helena Josefsson sucks equally bad. Which of course is totally OK but nevertheles a little hurtful when you read about it? I guess before the internet we said those things to each other when we were talking about music at home and the person we were speaking about would never know what we thought. Only now we say the same things over the internet publicly and we express ourselves maybe a bit like we would talking to a friend, not like we would if we were writing an article to be published in a magazine. It does look different when it's written and published for anyone to see. Of course I have had loads of similar opinions about the bands I love and I've said a million very harsh things about certain band members that I believe are ruining a favorite band of mine so I completely understand and respect it. But to be honest I don't want to read about myself like that, maybe I'm just too sensitive? So now I try to avoid it actually. I should mention that I (like many artists and musicians) try to avoid reading reviews of the music I do since I tend to get hurt by the bad ones. Music is magic for me and I basically I only do it for the satisfaction of doing it, it's the little thrilling magic moments when you do something that sounds great to you and hear it for the first time in the speakers that keep me going. I want more of them! Of course I dream of everyone loving what I do, I want every person in the world to feel as strongly as I do about the music I make. But of course that's not the way it works at all and it's not my main reason for making music. So I keep away from the forums after that experience.

Favorita was the lost band of Magnus Börjeson and this is one of their lost songs.

The words of Christoffer Lundquist are taken from an interview by Elena Longhel in ROxette.ro (Feb2009). Thank you, mixella.
